Infant Formulas: ISO 9001:2000, FDA Compliant, and Made in the U.S.A
Powder infant and toddler formulas supplied to domestic and international retailers by PBM are manufactured by PBM Nutritionals, LLC, in the only ISO 9001:2000-certified, infant formula-manufacturing facility in the United States.
Located in northern Vermont, PBM Nutritionals is the only U.S. manufacturer in the infant formula category that adheres to both U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines and a stringent set of quality-assurance regulations set by the International Organization for Standardization.
All formulas manufactured by PBM Nutritionals also meet the nutritional levels recommended by the U.S. National Academy of Science-National Research Council and the American Academy of Pediatrics, the largest organization of pediatricians dedicated to the health and well-being of infants and children.
Organic Growth
Powder infant formulas have been manufactured in PBM’s state-of-the-art facility for more than 20 years. During the past decade, PBM has been experiencing exponential growth as it continues to rollout new products for new domestic and international customers. An affiliate company, PBM Products, LLC, markets and distributes the infant and toddler formula products to more than 20,000 retail locations throughout the world.
In 2006, PBM introduced specialty infant formulas, including the first organic formula enriched with the essential lipids DHA and ARA, and a partially hydrolyzed formula for babies experiencing fussiness or gas:
-
PBM Nutritionals is approved by Quality Assurance International (QAI) to manufacture organic milk-based powder infant formula that is compliant with the comprehensive U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) organic regulations.
-
PBM also announced that it has purchased the exclusive worldwide rights to Profylac®, a hypoallergenic infant formula for children with severe food allergies.
In line with this customer-centric strategy, PBM Nutritionals recently became certified kosher by the Orthodox Union (OU), meaning that its powder infant formulas may be consumed by all those who observe kosher dietary laws, as well as by many others who have special dietary requirements, such as Moslems and Seventh Day Adventists. It also serves as a guide to millions of individuals who are vegetarian or lactose intolerant.
Powder Formulas for the World
International retailers are also looking for specialty formulas, and PBM Nutritionals now manufactures organic formulas enriched with DHA and ARA for the Canadian marketplace that meet the strict nutritional guidelines determined by Health Canada.
In addition to organic formula, PBM has extended its geographic distribution to Europe, manufacturing a whey-based hypoallergenic infant formula in Vermont for European customers. The company plans on introducing the first whey-based hypoallergenic infant formula with DHA in the United States in 2008.
