Bright Beginnings Nutritionals sponsors the annual Mac McDonald Invitational golf event to benefit the University of Virginia (UVa) Children’s Hospital. This year, the April 25, 2005 event, which was played at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Virginia, raised more than $104,000 for UVa’s Children's Medical Center (CMC). The tournament is a community project by Eure Communications, home of radio stations WINA AM 1070, Z-95, WQMZ and 3WV 97.5FM.
“I am overwhelmed. I never felt this tournament and this cause would grow so quickly,” said the radio voice of the Virginia Cavaliers, Mac McDonald, for whom the tournament is named. “The fact we reached the $100,000 plateau in five years is absolutely incredible. We have a lot of wonderful corporate sponsors and volunteers who work diligently to support our mission.”
As a presenting sponsor, 50% of the Bright Beginnings donation goes directly to the UVa Children's Hospital. In addition, our company entered two teams of employees who played with NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long, and Ron Prince, UVa offensive line/offensive coordinator football coach.
“We have exceeded our goal every year,” said Michelle DeLang Conner, the tournament’s organizer. “Along with our major sponsors, Bright Beginnings Infant Formula and ACAC Fitness and Wellness, we raised more than $100,000 for the CMC to continue the research and cutting edge medical procedures that help and heal so many children each year.”
The UVa Children's Hospital is a comprehensive network of health-care facilities dedicated to the care of children from birth through adolescence. The goal of the hospital is to enhance the health and well-being of children and families through collaborative medical care, education, research, and community service.
