Dr. Cindy Barber is vice president of regulatory, medical, and clinical affairs at PBM Products, where she directs the tactical execution of the clinical development program and provides input to the commercial and technical groups on medical and scientific issues. In addition, she works in nutraceuticals product development focusing on products that may help to improve the lives of people with diabetes.

Dr. Barber's diabetes work is not limited to PBM; she is also a founder and the chief operating officer of Beta-Pro LLC, a biotechnology firm that supplies custom islet cells (clinical-grade islets) to organizations that are dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes.

In a career that spans 20 years, Dr. Barber has also held numerous research positions at the University of Virginia and has worked as a consultant for a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms. She is also the scientific advisor of the Focus to Cure Diabetes Foundation.

Dr. Barber is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular genetics, as well as an M.S. in biological and physical science. She completed her undergraduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where she earned a B.S. in biology and chemistry.
